50 pound Catfish in Scottsdale Canal

By

It's every anglers dream, catching a monster fish... THIS BIG!
Incredibly, 2 valley teens did just that, reeling in a 50 pound whopper of a Catfish.

You'll never guess where? A Scottsdale canal near Indian Bend Wash!
Believe me, I had to see the scaly creature to believe it.
15 year old Isaiah Sullivan, his cousin and neighbor netted more than they bargained for when they caught a 4-foot long Flathead Catfish, using rotten chicken liver as bait. Yuck!!

Curious passerbys turned into angler paparazzi, snapping pictures on cell phones. Isaiah and friends posed like celebrities, deservedly so... it took an hour to reel the puppy in! When I asked "What's for dinner?" Isaiah replied,"We might not cook him, probably stuff him and put him on my wall."

Turns out this feature received national spotlight... CNN aired it repeatedly, and it was the most watched news clip on azfamily.com two days running. I guess everyone loves a good fish tail now and then!
