Oprah Winfrey is in bed with polygamous men--cowardly politicians in Mohave County Arizona have voted to close the Colorado City Justice Center--and Warren Jeffs' scum-bag lawyers are scratching and clawing to roll back every advancement made during the last decade to protect the women and children of polygamy.

And why should I be surprised? It's a twisted world!

They say life goes in cycles and we are suddenly now back to the days immediately following that disastrous Arizona raid on Short Creek in the early 1950's. Once again public sympathy seems to have shifted squarely to the side of Warren Jeffs' FLDS faithful.
Of course we have Texas's poorly-thought-out raid on the Yearning for Zion Ranch to blame for much of this shift. If cement-headed Texas cops had only reach out to more knowledgeable law officers and experts in Utah and Arizona, the embarrassing raid could have probably been avoid or at least handled differently. But Texas had to go it alone and it has played right into the hands of those who have become experts over the generations at creating a smokescreen of sympathy to hide their systematic exploitation of women and children. Oprah and company helped pump up that smokescreen on television the other night.
