This modern-day mom-and-pop (owned by a cute, young couple whose restaurant savvy belies their age) offers exactly what I want from a neighborhood restaurant — friendly service, moderate prices and a touch of sophistication. Fusion is my go-to for a great Kobe beef burger, pretty salads, luscious chorizo mac & cheese and affordable entrees such as hoisin-marinated duck breast or toasted cashew and cilantro-topped Chilean seabass ($15-$23). Although Chef Matt Long makes use of global ingredients and preparations, his frequently changing American menu feels contemporary, not annoyingly trendy. Two other things I love about the place: 1) the semi-private bar is really cozy for singles eating alone and 2) Fusion is quiet enough for a business lunch or romantic dinner. Lunch M-F; dinner M-Sa. $-$$$
