This sweet family-run operation -- decorated in pink and crammed with desserts -- has
"girlie girl" written all over it. But that doesn't keep the menfolk away, not when the multi-page menu offers so many simple, appealing selections. Breakfast and lunch possibilities include chilaquiles, pancakes, Bananas Foster french toast, hot roast beef sandwich, chipotle chicken sandwich, cranberry chicken salad and baby bleu salad (with strawberries, blue cheese and walnuts) as well as good old fashioned sandwiches such as egg salad, pimiento cheese and BLT. Trust me, I've barely scratched the service. Everything is nice too because owners Bill and Barbara Harris insist on using real butter, real whipped cream, hormone-free chicken, USDA choice meats and Simply Bread. Of course, saving room for dessert is imperative, given the selection. The heartbreak in in choosing just one thing when there's so very much. Divinity fudge cake, white chocolate toffee cake, pineapple upside down cake, angel food cake, chess pie, butterscotch meringue pie, apple praline pie, pecan pie, pound cake, coffee cake, cheese cake, brownies, cookies of every description . . . . are you still reading this? Why aren't you there yet? One more thing: Sugarbakers has a lengthy selection of ready-made comfort food (meatloaf, lasagna, enchiladas, turkey tetrazzini, chicken cordon bleu, goulash) to take home and feed the family ($18-$24). Breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. $-$$
