Have you seen "The Ghost Whisperer"? Jennifer Love-Hewitt stars as a woman who can communicate with the deceased. It's a fairly entertaining show.. with storylines that tend to grab you from the start and keep you the whole hour. Van Praagh is the "medium" who helped CBS develop the show and still serves as creative consultant.

This was actually the third interview I've done with him. But I didn't think he'd remember, with all the media he does throughout the year. Obviously, I was wrong.

He's always been complimentary and excited about the show in the past. But this time when I asked if he's still happy with it, he rolled his eyes and gave a nervous laugh.

"It's a good show," he said. "Very different than last season. It's a little darker- more mysterious and I'm not crazy about the darkness part of it."

Next time the show was on I saw exactly what he meant. It's scary! [Gee, that's another surprise... that ghosts are scary?]

My own experience with ghosts has not been scary. No one in my house is scared by Matilda. But television producers need drama. Spirit sightings are juiced up for effect. And I guess it's working.. the show is wrapping its second season and Love-Hewitt is signed for five more. Will it last that long? Van Praagh predicted five seasons. I guess time will tell if that holds true.
