It's November?
By Scott Davis
Wow- how did I let October pass without writing? Oh yeah.. that Halloween show. I can breathe now.
It had always been in "the plan" to do a special themed show for Halloween. I just didn't know how much trouble I'd have getting people to cooperate. Not ghost people, however. Nope- they were crawling out of the woodwork! That was a good thing and we came up with some really great material which is now posted online.
No, I wanted witches. I wanted vampires. Werewolves. Ouija users. None of them wanted to play. But maybe I should back up a little. You know there are real witches, right? Well there are also people who live the "vampire" life and the "werewolf" live. (Gotta use my Young Frankenstein line here: "Where wolf? There, wolf!")
Yup- there is a segment of the population... a really reclusive segment... that files their teeth, lives it up at night, and partakes in blood. They don't kill people but they do make people uneasy. That's why I wanted them for our Halloween show. I contacted a couple but not one had the decency to respond. Same with the werewolf people. Not sure how that lifestyle works but they apparently live for fur and the full moon. M-hm.
Mooooving on- I did meet with a group of witches about six weeks ago. They gathered on a Sunday to discuss the Wiccan holidays, how they celebrate, and what it's like to be a solitary practitioner. That's what most of them are, you see. It's not how we have it ingrained in our minds- the old crones gathered 'round a cauldron dropping in toads and bats. No- modern witches can look like your next-door neighbor. Your kid. Your rock-n-roll idol. Anyway the witches were nice enough to me without the camera, but only one would agree to be actually "on tv". For better or worse I passed on the opportunity because I was looking to portray more of a group thing. Well, I couldn't get enough witches to agree to come together.
Oh well. Maybe next year. For now, enjoy the ghosts. They're everywhere. And plenty of groups are waiting for you to join them or call on them for help!
Got a place to investigate? Let me know about it.
